As Chainmaile isn't a very frequent part of what I do anymore, I decided to re-name my business and start up a new website & blog. To see my current work and what I'm doing now, please go to my new website:

My design work has given me the opportunity to interact with and get to know some very fun, interesting and awesome people. Today I sent off my most recent project to an awesome fellow in Alabama by the name of Alfred Norris.
So what does this man of mystery from the other side of the country want from the likes of me?
|Silly Alfred.... get out of that tree!|
Al is building something amazing that I am very happy to be a part of. When his plans come to fruition, he will transform into a nearly 8 foot tall version of the hulk. Together we co-designed some hands with articulated motion for the costume. I put the final touches on them today and sent them on their journey. Before I sent them, however, I had to take 10 minutes and play around with them a bit.
I'm holding my arms out to the side because that's how Alfred will be inside the suit. Hulk's head will be located above where my head is in the video, and Hulk's shoulders will be above where my elbows are. Hopefully that will help to give you a better sense of the size of this thing.
|It'll be about "thiiiis big!"|
Once Al gets the hand skeletons, he will give them flesh and incorporate them into the costume he's building. Once he's completed it, I'll be sure to share whatever media he creates so you can see it. His artwork is amazing and I am certain this Hulk will be something you don't want to miss.
Thank you, Al, for inviting me to take part in this build. I look forward to the result of our collaboration with great anticipation!!!!

The secret purpose of my most recent mechanical hand has been revealed! I crafted it for the use of Seattle's evil mastermind, Rex Velvet. Watch the video to see what he has done with my diabolical creation.
What have I done? WHAT HAVE I DONE??
Rex is on a quest to rid the Seattle area of self-appointed, troublesome heroes. If you haven't already, check him out and hear what he has to say: Rex Velvet's Facebook Page

As you could probably guess from the pictures, the armor plates were made from a stop and a dead end sign (obtained through legal means, of course). These are affixed via arming points to a harness made from belts that features ammo loops and two straps to hold equipment. The plates were formed, in the spirit of the end of the world theme, the old fashioned way; with a ball peen hammer and an anvil.
Special thanks to Eric L. for modeling the armor!

This weekend I focused my energies and produced a hand plus a devious device in the space of 24 hours from start to finish. I don't want to ruin the surprise, so I'll simply say that the intended use of this hand by a certain secret associate of mine will be.... diabolical.
As with the other hands that I've produced, this one is articulated and cable controlled.
Don't ask me why, but I felt compelled to include strange, gilded designs on the finger loops. It appears that they imbued the hand with strange, useless powers.
With it I can gain the trust of tiny animals.......
And then trap them and bend them to my will. BWAHAHAAHAAAA!!!
............. when I fill your water dish tonight.

My latest custom project for one of my clients is now complete. A video of it can be seen here:
My client, Mr. V, commissioned the hand to go with a costume he’s been imagining. Mr. V told me that he was putting together a steampunk costume where half of his body was going to look like mechanical prosthetic devices. With that in mind, I built an enclosure to hid his human hand and added extra-long springs to act like tendons on the back of the hand and give it a more bio-mechanical feel.
Thanks for the fun build Mr. V!
